Claymore’s NeoScrypt AMD GPU Miner Now Available

Image
Claymore’s NeoScrypt AMD GPU Miner Now Available Claymore is extending his coverage on the different mining algorithms with a new NeoScrypt AMD GPU miner that ahs been available for a few days already and we’ve played a bit with it to see what it can deliver. Do note that even Claymore warns that the NeoScrypt algorithm is VERY HOT, so yo uneed to make sure you have powerful PSU and good GPU cooling. Also to get the best hashrate you need to set your GPUs to use “-powlim 50” option in the miner (+50% Power Limiter), though you cans till play with the voltages of the GPUs lowering them to reduce the power usage. o note that like other miners from Claymore this one comes with a dev fee included, the Claymore NeoScrypt AMD GPU miner has a developer fee of 2%, so every hour the miner mines for 72 seconds for developer. AMD’s RX 4xx/5xx series of GPUs do manage to provde a hashrate of up to about 900 KHS, but the old 280X GPUs are also quite interesting with about 800 KHS as well as 290X/

Bitcoin Core LevelDB Index saves forked blocks

Bitcoin Core LevelDB Index saves forked blocks I've noticed that bitcoind will permanently save unverified blocks that it receives even if they turn out to be small blockchain forks, likely occurring from the relatively simultaneous discovery of two blocks of equal height. This doesn't cause a problem for Bitcoin Core's functionality, as there is surely a process written into the source that ignores such small forks, however, it's curious to me that the data persists in the data saved to the .dat and .ldb files in .bitcoin/blocks/ and .bitcoin/blocks/index nonetheless. Is there a way to prune these invalid blocks that belong to small forks in the blockchain without -reindexing the entire blockchain? Would -reindex even remove them? http://ift.tt/2FbzznF

My code look like this: const uint64_t MONEY_SUPPLY = uint64_t(8000000); Am I doing right for this variable? 2) How do I award all coins to the first miner? (premine) For this one, i've modified Currency.cpp in function Currency::getBlockReward to add the first block reward like this : if (alreadyGeneratedCoins == 0) { baseReward = m_moneySupply * 1; std::cout << "Genesis block reward: " << baseReward << std::endl; } if (alreadyGeneratedCoins == 1){ baseReward = m_moneySupply * 0.10; } if (alreadyGeneratedCoins + baseReward >= m_moneySupply) { baseReward = 0; } Ive run two seed node in VPS and mine from my machine. In what circumstances would a block appear in the Leveldb .ldb index but have no data in a .dat file?

In what circumstances would a block appear in the Leveldb .ldb index but have no data in a .dat file? I've observed this behavior with Bitcoin Core v0.15 while parsing the LevelDB index in .bitcoin/blocks/index. It is also a situation that is obviously accounted for in the Bitcoin Core source code here (See BLOCK_HAVE_DATA and BLOCK_HAVE_UNDO). I am just looking to understand what would cause this to happen? Can a peer receive the block header before receiving the block itself? I'm finding that only the top few blocks in the chain seem to be missing data; They appear in the index but not the .dat files. http://ift.tt/2FBFyjv

Bitcoin Core data to csv

Bitcoin Core data to csv I would like to download the Bitcoin blockchain and use the data for machine learning purposes. How a smart contract works and when is activated?

How a smart contract works and when is activated? I am trying to understand how a smart contracts works and what are the steps from requesting to receiving some amount of coin (let's say ethereum). I have some questions.. When a smart contract is created this is added in a block and send in the network to be checkt (what should users check here, because smart contract is not a transaction?) When a user make a request to a method exported by the smart contract is created a transaction and this will be sent in the network for validation, right (so what is the smart contract job if the transaction will be validated in network?). Smart contract beeing in the blockchain this means every user from network has it. Smart contract is run by every user when a request to a method is done? We can think on a smart contract like a normal user with has a balance? A user can access every contract from blockchain? I am referring on ethereum. Thanks http://ift.tt/2HOQb3a

Transactions in Sidechain

Transactions in Sidechain Suppose I have my own sidechain and have created a transaction of 100 BTCs from Bitcoin network to my Sidechain. To my understanding, this means 100 BTCs are now locked on Bitcoin Network and 100 pegged BTCs have been created in my sidechain. Q1. What kind of address will hold these 100 pegged BTCs in my sidechain? Is it an address same as Bitocin wallet address? Q2. Suppose Alice have 100 pegged BTCs in address A of sidechain, Alice made a transaction of 50 pegged BTCs to Bob which has another address (say address B). We now have 50 pegged BTCs in both address A and address B. How will Bob redeem pegged coins back to real BTCs in Bitcoin Network? Because if we see in Bitcoin's point of view, Alice is the authorized user to spend or redeem her 100 pegged BTCs back to real ones. Whereas Bob does not exist for Bitcoin Network who claims to possess 50 BTCs. http://ift.tt/2CnQ4Mf

How can the transaction history be checked when new addresses are generated?

How can the transaction history be checked when new addresses are generated? When a new transaction is executed via a Bitcoin-client, the sender will have a different address than the ones used in previous transactions. I also know that all the full nodes in the Bitcoin network maintain a ledger, which is basically a history off all Bitoin transactions ever made so the nodes can check the integrity of the system and the current amount of bitcoins people have available in their wallets. How is it even possible to check all the transactions when there are constantly new addresses being generated? You can't even link a current transaction to the previous. Is there something I'm missing? http://ift.tt/2FbmwTq

I used to do GPU mining, can I track down my wallet?

I used to do GPU mining, can I track down my wallet? Back a few years ago, around 2013, I had access to a network that I would occasionally run bfgminer on. Is there any way the files sitting on my computer will have a reference to my wallet? The scripts I used to start the miner used dencoinpools as well as d2.cc as I was checking out different currencies at the time. Any chance my wallet is still sitting on my computer somewhere? :) http://ift.tt/2osfMH8

Minar cryptocurrencies without software or special hardware

Minar cryptocurrencies without software or special hardware I know that it is very difficult to mine at the moment without special equipment, but I think in a way, even if it is a hobby, to try to mine either by developing a program in Java or with Excel. I have basic equipment, currently I work with Minergate. I want to make my own mining system, as I would do the following: Connect to the cryptocurrency network. Read the hash Interpret the hash Enter the new hash And which currency would be feasible to undermine. Thank you http://ift.tt/2Fzt38b

Ed25519 Successor to ECDSA in Bitcoin? Bitcoin is currently using the secp256k1 curve. AntRouter R3-LTC, a WiFi Router and Clock That Mines Too

Image
AntRouter R3-LTC, a WiFi Router and Clock That Mines Too It seems that Bitmain is moving more into the direction of making smaller and lower power miners that do more than just mine crypto currencies and their upcoming AntRouter R3-LTC is a proof of that. The company has previously released a WiFi router that mines Bitcoin and then Litecoin, but these were pretty low power devices. The upcoming AntRouter R3-LTC adds improved specs for mining Litecoin and as a WiFi router and even adds a handy clock on the front of the device. The device is based around the BM1485 Scrypt ASIC chip, Bitmain’s Litecoin Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC). We cannot say there is no potential in devices that do something useful and mine as well, these however have to be cleverly designed and made in a way so that mining does not impact their normal use. The device offers 300 Mbps 2.4 GHz 802.11g/n WiFi as a router and comes with 6x BM1485 ASIC chips for mining inside capable of delivering 9.9 M

The question I have is about the basic mathematical fundamentals between profitability and hashrate. Using the following snippets below and ignoring any electricity costs I'd like to know how whattomine.com comes to the following 24hr profit conclusion: For the Ethash algorithm I create 150 MH/s and this generates $10.66 worth of Ethereum. I'm assuming this uses the btc_revenue or btc_revenue24 index within the JSON so I will also provide that BTC is currently worth roughly $9,800. I will gladly provide any other info needed to figure this out. And at new source, validation.cpp 986 line, there are code like, bool ReadBlockFromDisk(CBlock& block, const CDiskBlockPos& pos, const Consensus::Params& consensusParams) ..... .... if(!CheckProofOfWork(block.GetPoWHash(), block.nBits, consensusParams)) ... How this [ CheckProofOfWork ] function can be used? There is no prior variable declaration. There is just [ #include "pow.h" ] Is this enough? I used this [ CheckProofOfWork ] function same to chainparams.cpp , but error says undefined reference to `CheckProofOfWork Why? how to use this function in chainparams.cpp? http://ift.tt/2EPeThT

Regarding Mnemonic Code words and salt key

Regarding Mnemonic Code words and salt key My aim is to make a hardware wallet. I was studying HD wallet generation (BIP 39) and have figured out how things work under the hood, except one thing. At high level : Mnemonic code (128bit or 256 bit) + Salt('mnemonic'+ passphrase ) -----do PBDKF2 (2048 rounds)---> 512 bit seed Users are requested to back up their mnemonic code. If I am on a Hardware wallet like ledger nano, the passphrase above serves as my password. Different passphrase creates different seed. Now if i want to open the same wallet from anywhere else, theoretically i can do so just from the Mnemonic code(12 or 24 words). My doubt is will the passphrase have no use if wallet is being opened from third party clients like Greenwallet, greenbitz, breadwallet etc? To rephrase : How is passphrase consumed by third party wallets if I have generated an account on ledger? http://ift.tt/2GD6wGw

Do I need to pay taxes if I sit on (do not use) bitcoins?

Do I need to pay taxes if I sit on (do not use) bitcoins? I've done some reading on the IRS bitcoin guidelines and I'm a bit confused how the capital gains taxes works. If I buy some bitcoins in Jan, the value of the bitcoins double by the of the year but I still keep them, do I need to pay a tax on those? Or do I only need to pay tax if I buy something with them/convert them to fiat? I'm in the USA by the way. http://ift.tt/2ETmvQF

Can I use walletnotify or blocknotify remotely with a NodeJS application?

Can I use walletnotify or blocknotify remotely with a NodeJS application? I'd like to get information from my bitcoin node running on a cloud server to be used to make changes in my NodeJS app running on my computer. So, in the bitcoin.conf file, should I have something like walletnotify=curl http://My.IP.Address:PortAppUses/walletnotify.js?tx=%s? If that's right, what do I write in the walletnotify.js file to simply save the incoming transaction id as a variable? http://ift.tt/2ouij2D

The Official Crypt0's Anarchapulco 2018 VLOGumentary (SO MUCH HAPPENED!) Join us, as we take you to our journey through Anarchapulco 2018, in Acapulco Mexico. Here, we celebrated advances in freedom, cryptocurrency, the past, the present, and the future. This conference had by far the most excellent group of people, as we all came together to share ideas on how to help each other, and explore peace. It's funny that you may not associate "anarchy" with "peace", but at it's base, this seems the main ethos of people involved with the ideals. Do unto others as you would have done to yourself, and respect everyone's personal human rights. This was my first year attending the conference, with about 1500 people attending (up from around 500 last year), and it certainly won't be my last. It was also a real pleasure meeting many of you out there, and learning from you. You have my sincerest thanks for watching, and I welcome any comments. Cheers :) -Cryp
